Canon: Blue Exorcist
Canon Point: Chapter 67
Age: 15-16
History: Character and canon history
Inugami Keypoints:
* First month into being trapped in a school of the weird and crazy, Yukio experiences a taste of horror that will never leave his mouth. Yukio was one of the many students that were chased down and hunted by a mass of tentacles. Just before he was pulled into a classroom, Ronald had attempted to save him and in his attempt he lost his arm. Returning to life the next day, Yukio was plagued with guilt and responsibility to help Ron recover. After all, it was his fault that Ronald had lost his arm.
*In July, Rin got invited to participate in a game of hide and seek which had resulted in his death. Unfortunately for Yukio, he was the one to find Rin's mangled and disfigured body, and when Rin came back to life, Yukio was losing faith in the meaning of death. After all, they keep coming back.
*In late September Yukio was one of the few students that had fell victim to one of the "pranksters" in the school and the effects of being a victim only refreshed his interest behind the power of his eyes.
* In December, the fates laughed at Yukio once more and the poor boy wound up kidnapped. This time his kidnapping had left a rather negative impersonation on him, leaving him paranoid and frighten. In his extreme case of fear, Yukio had shot and blinded Kakyoin.
* Not long afterwards there was a massive time change from January to March, due to the game going on hiatus and a shift of mod change.
* In March, Yukio had gotten his first kiss ever. Now, extremely shy and conflicted with his own thoughts on the matter; his best friend had made the first move on him and his own confusion on how he felt, he excused himself to mentally think over the situation. He did not even go to his brother to talk over it, because he saw it as a personal matter.
* The last moments that Yukio would have would be the huge events that happened in April. After missing his chance to get his shots, Yukio had innocently approached his brother that had been missing for a few days and that was the biggest mistake that he could make. Rin was not the same brother that he loved and hated, instead the Rin that he had approached was a zombie, and a hungry one at that. Banking on the fact that once again he would be brought back to life like all the other times, Yukio lead Rin away from society and fraught with him in their bedroom and ended up as Rin's meal.
Personality: Yukio is controlling and ethical, with a strong sense of right and wrong. He typically has problems with resentment and impatience directed towards his twin brother, Rin.
Despite this, he has a desire to protect him and that leads him to want to improve himself in various ways using whatever degree of influence he has. Even though he is only 16 years old he has already gained a Meister title in two separate classifications: Dragoon and Doctor.
Yukio is a kid of practical action—he wishes to be useful in the best sense of the word. On some level of consciousness, he feels that he has a mission to fulfill in life, if only to try his best to reduce the disorder that his brother creates. During the Impure King arc, Saburota Toudo exploited how much Yukio had worked himself to be just like his father, for he had not only earned two of the many meisters that Shirou had (Doctor and Dragoon) but Yukio had also taken over the same Anti-Demon Pharmacology class that Shirou had taught. Toudo compared himself to Yukio, tried to compare how he felt about being in the shadows of his brothers and father and how Yukio felt when he compares himself to Rin and Shirou. The biggest mistake that Toudo made was that he did not take into account that Yukio's self hatred would take precedence over the hatred he has towards Rin. Ever since the encounter with Toudo, Yukio has been dealing with the fact that just perhaps- he is not as human as he thought. In the moment where he was sure that he was going to die- something had happened with his eyes and it had caused his tormentor to leap back instinctively. Something had happened inside of him that made a demon that could regenerate from practically any wound to jump back in a animistic way to defend himself and there is no way that a mere human boy could do that. "Those are not your eyes," and the face that he makes when angry is his "true" and "demonic" face has been plaguing Yukio and so much as to leak into his nightmares.
Although Yukio has a strong sense of purpose, he also typically feels that he has to justify his actions to himself, and often to others as well. He looked up to Rin for defending him when they were young, and strives to be strong like him. His disposition causes him to spend a lot of time thinking about the consequences of his and Rin's actions, as well as about how to keep from acting contrary to his convictions. Because of the fact that Yukio thinks of himself as a rationalist who uses logic and objective truth it was not that much of a surprise for Yukio to blame Rin for the death of Father Fujimoto. If there was a thing to make Fujimoto's control waver it would have been something Rin said or did to make the ex-paladin's faith falter. To Yukio, Fujimoto was a role model, someone to look up to. Fujimoto was the one that suggested for him to become someone strong enough to look after Rin. Part of the reason why he is how he is, is because of the fact that he takes what Fujimoto had taught him as a child. He was the one to give Yukio the opportunity to learn to become strong: to protect himself and his brother by becoming an exorcist.
The feeling of being weak, despite how much hard work and effort he had put into being not only an exorcist but someone strong enough to protect his demonic brother made Yukio despise the fact that Rin is stronger and more capable of himself and the people around him. It is much easier to hate somebody then to admit the fact that they are better then you. Case in point- how Yukio views his coworker Shura. He absolutely hates her. Shura is very talented but she doesn't seem to be taking her role very serious and that bothers Yukio quite a bit. Most of the interaction between him and Shura are usually sharp witted responses from Yukio and teasing from Shura- for example her bossing him around to rub suntan lotion onto her back and his rather sarcastic remark on how shameful it was to see her in drag after she teased him for having to be in drag for a mission.
In the effort to stay true to his principles, Yukio resists being affected by his instinctual drives, consciously not giving in to them or expressing them too freely. He is usually seen by others as highly self-controlled, even rigid. It was a bit of a shock for Shiemi to see the way that Yukio's normally perfect mask had slipped and that he had allowed for his temper to flare when Rin jeopardized their lives by disobeying him and his orders.
Yukio believes that being strict with himself (and eventually becoming “perfect”) will justify him in his own eyes and in the eyes of others. As an exorcist it is an danger to wear your heart on your sleeve and leave yourself an open book for people and demons to read- there are demons that would use your emotions, fears, wants, and desires to worm their way into your heart and possess you. Yukio had assimilated this part of his training to create for himself a mask that makes it difficult for people to see past what he wants them to see and he mostly avoids situations that make it difficult for him to keep that mask on by either avoiding the situation or person completely or by deflecting the question with a vague answer and a smile. But by attempting to create his own brand of perfection, he often creates his own personal hell. Part of that hell deals with the fact that he is burdened with the weight being related to the son of Satan, the expectations and judgement he has to live with, and a brother that has no understanding of the weight placed on his shoulders. With Rin's acceptance of his flames, Yukio had pointedly refused to acknowledge Rin's flames. It had became a source of discontent between the brothers and became such a problem that Rin had to confront Yukio about it during the Kraken Arc. While fighting against the Kraken, Yukio admitted to Rin that ever since the incident with Neuhaus he regretted allowing Rin to use his flames. He admitted that as long as Rin poses a threat that there was no way that he could feel at ease, that it would go against his promise to their father. This orientation makes it difficult for him to trust his inner guidance—indeed, to trust life—so Yukio has come to rely heavily on his lessons, to guide him towards being strong enough to protect Rin.
In the recent chapter of the series a new light has been shown on Yukio's well being. Instead of the question of does Yukio have demon genetics as he had spent most of his life thinking about it is now more of a question as to when will they show up. In the meeting between Lucifer and Yukio,Lucifer had made it a point to point out the fact that Yukio's heart is pretty weak ( which like I said before echoed the same warnings that Shura and his own exorcist training.) Yukio's mentality has been going in a downward spiral solely focused on the fact that he still considers himself weak- to the point of him actually wishing and desiring the use of Rin's flames which he considers to be a wild powder keg of raw power.
Abilities:
As an exorcist you have to earn at least one out of five titles to become an fully qualified exorcist. At the age of 13 Yukio had earned the title of both a Doctor and A Dragoon. The title of being a Doctor means that he is qualified to tend to wounds to wounds caused by demons. Yukio's medical prowess is shown perfectly when he was handling the Impure King where he had to admonish medicine via needle and not break the cell wall which could prove to be even more dangerous. The other title- Dragoon means that he is trained in dealing with modern machines usually seen as various handguns, snipers, bazookas, holy water grenades and even flame throwers. It was once mentioned that despite distance it was almost scary how precise and accurate Yukio's aim is. I am not sure if I should mention this since he hasn't gained the title as a tamer (one who makes and enter contracts with demons for assistance) but Yukio was able to summon seven water based Niaids to help him out when he was fighting against Toudo at the cost of how draining it was on his body.
Strengths:
+ He is intelligent, a genius of his age
+ He is medically trained
+ Strong sense of will
+ Perfectionism
+ Excellent marksmanship
Weaknesses:
- He is very jealous of his brother
- He does not talk much about his emotions
- Prone to self loathing
- strong perfectionist streak
- socially awkward
God/Shinki: God
Why?: Because I tried him as a shinki and it was a bit difficult to do without his memories
Top 3 Choices: Satan, Baphomet, Hades
God Type: Even if Yukio tries to do the right thing, he would end up failing to counteract his own nature and end up fulfilling the more malicious sounding prayers.
Power: Corruption. Passively, his abilities cause intrusive thoughts (cause harm to others, harm to self, give in to temptation). Actively, his abilities can make him cause people to fulfill these intrusive thoughts. (ie, instead of just thinking about punching that guy in the face, why not go ahead and do it). this effect can be countered by strength of will.

It was supposed to be a simple mission- go out and see what could be causing the back up of the underground tunnel and then go report it back to headquarters. And at first it was just as simple as that- nothing too huge of a problem for him to handle. But what seemed at first to be a massive collection of coal tars turned out to be just a harbinger of a much bigger problem. Coughing roughly into his exorcist jacket, Yukio's eyes started to water as the stench of dirty water and thick musty stale air invaded his nose.
"Okumura.... I have been watching you." The demon bubbled out as it's massive body slugged forward towards the still coughing boy. "I know your secret... As much as you deny it and still claim to be human...You and your brother share the same blood." The demon chuckled as more spores opened up and released plumes of smoke. "Yes, we share similar blood, but not the same blood." Yukio muttered between clenched teeth and the cover of his sleeve as his other hand pointed his gun at the demon and fired. Once. Twice. Three shots were used and the demon before him stood unaffected. "Blood is Blood Okumura... It is only a matter of time before you develop.... If you haven't already." The demon chuckled as it's mossy green eyes focused on a single scratch on the top of Yukio's hand.
"Don't assume you know me." Yukio growled low in his throat as he stepped backward, his focus entirely placed upon the demon before him and not upon the small shallow cut that he had obtained sometime between when he had entered the tunnel and now.
"Blood is such a personal thing Okumura... With a simple drop of blood you can tell everything about them. Their health, their diet, their strengths and weakness, and even their state of mind." The demon lazily burped as it spread further up along the tunnel. "Isn't that right Okumura? You are a doctor... You preform your own blood tests, don't you? How does your blood taste like?" A sharp response boiled on the tip of Yukio's tongue as his gun hand shook, but no matter how much he tried he could not respond. It was not because of fear, nor because because he didn't want to. He just couldn't. He just couldn't move, let alone blink his eyes involuntary.
